Bordelli di Sabbia. Razzismo e Prostituzione dalla Colonia al Turismo Sessuale: il Caso di Cuba

The colonial inheritance consists above all in a racist imaginary heritage from which even today we have not managed to free ourselves, and through which the colony continues to reproduce itself and to colonize the bodies and minds of its victims. Many studies on the genealogy of racism appeal to suppositions given for outdated, but that are continuously fermenting in the basement of the collective unconscious and that, deforming its structure, give rise to ever new manifestations of ancient fears. This is especially true of those ideologies that are linked to sexual racism. The importance of rethinking these theories and the processes of colonial subjectivation and socialization is extremely urgent because it is precisely in many of them that the seed of today's stereotypes and misunderstandings lies. With this elaborate I intend to analyze the fragmentary theoretical and literary apparatus on sexual racism and retrace the stages of this type of discrimination from its expression in the imaginary and colonial taxonomies, to the current forms that produce and feed the phenomenon of sex tourism in the former. Cuban colony. Cuba has always played a well-defined role in the Western imagination: it is an island of desire, exotic and erotic, a place of perdition whose inhabitants are renowned for their sensuality and sexual disinhibition. This thesis tries to investigate, through a historical and ethnographic approach, on the history of this assumption that, from the colony to the present, continues to influence the life of many Cubans and to stimulate the erotic fantasy of the western tourists who land there.

L'eredità coloniale consiste soprattutto in un patrimonio immaginario razzista alla quale ancora oggi non siamo riusciti a liberarci e attraverso il quale la colonia continua a riprodursi e a colonizzare i corpi e le menti delle sue vittime. Molti studi sulla genealogia del razzismo fanno appello a supposizioni date per obsolete ma che in realtà sono in continuo fermento nello scantinato dell'inconscio collettivo e che, deformandone la struttura, danno vita a manifestazioni sempre nuove di antiche paure. Questo vale soprattutto per quelle ideologie che si collegano al razzismo sessuale. L'importanza di ripensare a tali teorie e ai processi di soggettivazione e socializzazione coloniale è quanto mai impellente perché è proprio in molte di esse che giace il seme degli stereotipi e dei fraintendimenti di oggi. Questo elaborato intende analizzare il frammentario apparato teorico e letterario sul razzismo sessuale e ripercorrere le tappe di questo tipo di discriminazione dalla sua espressione nell'immaginario e nelle tassonomie coloniali, alle forme odierne che producono e alimentano il fenomeno del turismo sessuale nell'ex-colonia cubana. Cuba ricopre da sempre un ruolo ben definito nell'immaginario occidentale: è un'isola del desiderio, esotica ed erotica, un luogo di perdizione i cui abitanti sono rinomati per la loro sensualità e disinibizione sessuale. Questa tesi cerca quindi di indagare, attraverso un approccio storico ed etnografico, la storia di questo presupposto che, dalla colonia ad oggi, continua a condizionare la vita di molti cubani e a stimolare la fantasia erotica dei turisti occidentali che vi approdano.
