The aim of this thesis is to explore possible application of blockchain technology in the logistics area, in particular in the automotive sector. The first section gives an overview of the supply chain and logistics and examines the challenges of logistics in the urban context. Then in the second section, Blockchain technology is presented as a possible solution, with a description of its technical structure, the main characteristics but also the challenges that it could present in the application and its economic sustainability. This section ends with an overview of Blockchain use cases in the supply chains of different manufacturing firms. At this stage, based on previous analysis, we focus on automotive supply chain and the related challenges. We start with an overview of the actors involved in the automotive supply chain, then the challenges that the automotive sector faces both globally and nationally. At the end, possible applications of blockchain technology in the automotive industry are presented as opportunities both for the inbound logistics and outbound logistics in automotive companies.
