Analisi dell'evoluzione del design di un distribution network

The objective of my thesis is to explain which are the technical aspects used to structure a distribution network and how they have changed throughout the years.In the first chapter of my thesis I have analyzed how the distribution network design was executed in the past and which are the teachings that have to be understood in order to develop a more efficient structure. In the second chapter the focus is on the present of the distribution network design, explaining which are the types of structure used nowadays and which are the tools useful to design and evaluate them. Then I am going to describe the revolution caused by the entrance in the market of the online store retailers that have changed forever the way to store and move products along the supply chain with a particular focus on the most representative example of this change that is Amazon.
