Asimmetria del potere e meccanismi di assoggettamento

This dissertation is due to my personal interest on the topic arising from the observation of contemporary society, with the aim of highlighting the topic of abuse. This problem is growing and it is possible to find it in different forms; therefore, there is a need to know the typical characteristics of abusive situations in order to recognize them in ourselves or in others. Abuse, in addition to using manipulation to change the perception and behavior of others in a deceptive way, uses both psychological and physical violence, causing damage to the victim. At the basis of all this is the concept of power, i.e. the ability to impose one's ideas and exercise control over others, feeling superior. This dynamic leads to mistreatment of those in a subordinate position, creating an asymmetrical relationship which constitutes the core of the problem and from which violence originates. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to define and describe the various types of abuse as they present themselves and what signs need to be recognised, focusing on adulthood. Furthermore, we will try to understand how one of the natural and unconscious responses of the human mind is to overcome adversity, transforming a negative event into a process of growth and overcoming trauma. The individual must be able to emerge strengthened from these difficulties, reorganizing their life and habits in a positive way.

Questa dissertazione è dovuta al mio interesse personale sull’argomento scaturito dall'osservazione della società contemporanea, con l'intento di mettere in evidenza il tema dell'abuso. Questa problematica è in crescita ed è possibile riscontrarla in diverse forme; pertanto, c’è la necessità di conoscere le caratteristiche tipiche delle situazioni di abuso per poterle riconoscere in noi stessi o negli altri. L'abuso, oltre a utilizzare la manipolazione per cambiare percezione e comportamento degli altri in modo ingannevole, si avvale della violenza sia psicologica sia fisica, causando danni alla vittima. Alla base di tutto ciò vi è il concetto di potere, ossia la capacità di imporre le proprie idee e di esercitare un controllo sugli altri, sentendosi superiori. Questa dinamica porta a maltrattare chi è in una posizione subordinata, creando un rapporto asimmetrico che costituisce il fulcro del problema e da cui origina la violenza. Dunque, l’obiettivo di questo elaborato è definire e descrivere le varie tipologie di abuso come si presentano e quali segnali bisogna riconoscere, concentrandosi sull'età adulta. Inoltre, si cercherà di comprendere come una delle risposte naturali e inconsapevoli della mente umana sia quella di superare le avversità, trasformando un evento negativo in un processo di crescita e superamento del trauma. L'individuo dovrà essere in grado di uscire rafforzato da queste difficoltà, riorganizzando la propria vita e le proprie abitudini in maniera positiva.
