L'hate speech e il suo contrasto: una sfida tutta da giocare

Subject of my thesis is the phenomenon called hate speech, in Italian, discorso d'odio, of which I will try to render complexity, starting from its definition and from the differences between the European and the US context in its online and offline regulation. Then, the attention will be paid to the Italian context, which I will show the regulatory framework about the hate speech and the work done by the "Jo Cox" Commission in trying to further clarify the phenomenon and the climate of hatred in Italy. Finally, I will try to overturn the perspective by not looking, as in the legal sphere, at what the hater does, but looking at who the "publics" of the hatred are and at the forms of contrast that can be implemented.​

Oggetto della mia tesi è il fenomeno chiamato hate speech, in italiano, discorso d'odio, di cui si cercherà di rendere la complessità, a partire dalla sua definizione e dalle differenze tra contesto europeo e statunitense nella sua regolamentazione online e offline. Poi, l'attenzione sarà rivolta al contesto italiano, di cui si mostrerà il quadro normativo in materia di discorso d'odio e il lavoro svolto dalla Commissione "Jo Cox" nel cercare di chiarire ulteriormente il fenomeno e il clima d'odio in Italia. Infine, si cercherà di ribaltare la prospettiva non guardando più, come nell'ambito giuridico, a ciò che fa l'odiatore, ma guardando a chi sono i pubblici dell'odio e alle forme di contrasto che possono essere messe in atto.​
