Problematiche conservative e restauro dell'installazione Fluxus Constellation di Benjamin Patterson: individuazione e rimozione di un adesivo sintetico da stampe transfer su nylon e nuovo metodo di tensionamento

In this master thesis paper, all the operations carried out as part of the final internship around the thesis work entitled "The Fluxus Constellation" by the artist Benjamin Patterson were illustrated. The conservative problems detected were tackled and supported by an interdisciplinary study which included historical-artistic and technical-scientific knowledge phases. The restoration intervention was divided into a first phase focused on the removal of the synthetic adhesive degraded by the transfer printing and in a second phase of experimentation for the identification of a new tensioning method. The experimental study served to present some methodological and technical-applicative aspects concerning the tensioning operation of the nylon textile support to identify the most suitable methodology. To evaluate the behavior of the methodologies some specimens were prepared, performed using materials similar to the constituent ones of the work.

Nel presente elaborato di Tesi Magistrale sono state illustrate tutte le operazioni svolte nell'ambito del Tirocinio finale intorno l'opera oggetto di Tesi dal titolo "The Fluxus Constellation" dell'artista Benjamin Patterson. I problemi conservativi rilevati sono stati affrontati e supportati da uno studio interdisciplinare che ha previsto delle fasi conoscitive di tipo storico-artistico e tecnico-scientifico. L'intervento di restauro è stato suddiviso in una prima fase incentrata sulla rimozione dell'adesivo sintetico degradato dalle stampe transfert e in una seconda fase di sperimentazione per l'individuazione di un nuovo metodo di tensionamento. Lo studio sperimentale è servito a presentare alcuni aspetti metodologici e tecnico-applicativi concernenti l'operazione di tensionamento del supporto tessile in nylon per identificare la metodologia più idonea. Per valutare il comportamento delle metodologie sono stati preparati alcuni provini, eseguiti utilizzando materiali similari a quelli costituitivi dell'opera.
