Sono state indagate numerose variabili.
The purpose of this study was to identify risk factors associated with short-term outcome in dogs admitted for cluster seizures (CS) or status epilepticus (SE). Seizures and epilepsy are among the most frequent neurological disorders in dogs. In particular CS and SE are serious neurological emergencies associated with poor prognosis, which require promptly diagnosis and treatment. Few studies have investigated the risk factors associated with these serious emergencies and their prognosis. To achieve this goal, the population of dogs referred to the Turin University Veterinary Hospital (July 2015 - February 2019) was examined and 93 subjects were included in the study. Numerous variables have been investigated. An older age at first seizure, hyperthermia, in-hospital complications and the absence of AEDs therapy previously to hospitalization in dogs with history of seizures, have been found to be associated with the outcome, and in particular with the patient's death before his discharge. Future studies will be needed to create a scoring system to be assessed on patients upon entry in order to objectively measure the illness severity and to establish the most appropriate therapeutic protocol.

Abstract
Future studies will be needed to create a scoring system to be assessed on patients upon entry in order to objectively measure the illness severity and to establish the most appropriate therapeutic protocol.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
