In recent years, the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) has changed the business sector. There are many companies that, in order not to lose their competitive advantage, are facing a real transformation by equipping themselves with these systems. The first objective of this paper is to describe the effects of the adoption of artificial intelligence systems in companies, and the most commonly used technologies, such as Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP), which enable the automation and optimization of business processes. AI is able to offer significant advantages in terms of efficiency, costs and services through the development and reinterpretation of collected data, enabling companies to compete in dynamic markets and adapt quickly to changes. Secondly, through an empirical analysis, it aims to define and analyze how the transformation of a traditional company into an AI-driven one takes place, describing the business models adopted, and the objectives set. The transformation implies the adoption of an IT infrastructure, the digitization of processes and the development of a data-driven corporate culture. Finally, from a legal point of view, it focuses on and analyses privacy issues related to the processing of personal data, and the security of AI systems.
