Among the solutions being explored, the reduction of crude protein levels is getting attention. After a comprehensive literature review on the subject, a trial was conducted under commercial conditions. This trial aimed to reduce the crude protein content by one point during the last two phases of the broiler production cycle. The study was carried out on mixed-sex flocks and flocks exclusively composed of females, all from a fast-growing breed. The zootechnical results were comparable to those of the control group, although a deterioration in FCR was observed in the female group. Animal welfare indicators and yields remained stable or improved. However, in the current economic context, this approach remains costly. Nevertheless, given the zootechnical results and the potential for increased restrictions on soybean use, this solution appears feasible under commercial conditions.
