L'esplorazione dello sviluppo e del comportamento sessuale durante l'infanzia: il focus group come strumento di rilevazione della prospettiva di educatori e inseganti delle scuole

This thesis paper explores a topic as yet unexplored in the literature: sexual development and behavior during childhood. Specifically, the dissertation examines the variations that occur with growth, analyzing how sexual behavior manifests itself during different age groups, up to early adolescence. Then there is an examination of problematic sexual expressions that are atypical of normative sexual development. But not only that, the multiple risk factors, which often jointly, contribute to the development of such problematic manifestations in the child, are described, and the aspect of prevention is also explored, with particular attention to the parental role. Finally, an in-depth study of this topic contextualized in the school environment and in relation to the figure of educators and teachers in the development of adaptive and maladaptive behaviors, as well as in their management, is included, which will be the central theme of the research conducted. In this regard, the thesis project stems from the intention to conduct qualitative research, through the use of focus groups, in order to survey the perspective of preschool and elementary school educators and teachers on children's sexual behavior. A description of the study's procedures and the results obtained was provided within the fourth chapter of the paper.Through unna thematic analysis, several themes emerged from the participants' responses, both regarding sexual behavior and the area of sex education in schools and issues of training school personnel. The results made it possible to expand knowledge on this topic, noting the type of sexual conduct assumed by children in kindergarten and elementary school, based on the observations of the participant subjects, and the needs of the latter in order to possess a good knowledge of children's sexuality and deal with it in the correct manner. Some data were found to be similar to those previously found in the literature, while others emerged as new; in general, they were all found to be very informative, despite the intention to expand the sample to make sure and to proceed later with the development of a valid problematic and normative child sexual behavior survey instrument, which is currently not present.

Il presente elaborato di tesi approfondisce una tematica ancora inesplorata in letteratura: lo sviluppo e il comportamento sessuale durante l'infanzia. In particolare, la tesi esamina le variazioni che si verificano con la crescita, analizzando come il comportamento sessale si manifesta durante le diverse fasce d'età, fino alla prima adolescenza. Successivamente è presente una disamina delle espressioni sessuali problematiche, atipiche rispetto ad uno sviluppo sessuale normativo. Ma non solo, sono descritti i molteplici fattori di rischio, che spesso congiuntamente, concorrono allo sviluppo di tali manifestazioni problematiche nel bambino, ed è approfondito altresì l'aspetto della prevenzione, con particolare attenzione al ruolo genitoriale. Infine è inserito un approfondimento di questo tema contestualizzato nell'ambiente scolastico e in relazione alla figura di educatori e insegnanti nello sviluppo di condotte adattive e disadattive, nonchè nella gestione di queste ultime, che costituirà il tema centrale della ricerca condotta. A tal proposito, il progetto di tesi deriva dall'intenzione di effettuare una ricerca di tipo qualitativo, tramite l'utilizzo di focus group, al fine di rilevare la prospettiva di educatori e insegnanti della scuola dell'infanzia e primaria sul comportamento sessuale dei bambini. E' stata fornita una descrizione delle procedure dello studio e dei risultati ottenuti, all'interno del quarto capitolo dell'elaborato: attraverso un athematic analysis, sono emerse diverse tematiche dalle risposte dei partecipanti, sia in merito al comportamento sessuale sia in merito all'ambito dell'educazione sessuale nelle scuole e alle problematiche di formazione del personale scolastico. I risultati hanno permesso di ampliare la conoscenza su questo argomento, rilevando la tipologia di condotte sessuali assunte dai bambini nella scuola dell'infanzia e nella scuola primaria, in base alle osservazione dei soggetti partecipanti, e le necessità di questi ultimi al fine di possedere una buona conoscenza della sessualità infantile e affrontarla nella modalità corretta. Alcuni dati sono risultati simili a quelli riscontrati precedentemente nella letteratura, mentre altri sono emersi come nuovi; in generale, sono risultati tutti molto informativi, nonostante l'intenzione di ampliare il campione per assicurarsi e procedere successivamente con l'elaborazione di uno strumento di rilevazione dei comportamenti sessuali infantili problematici e normativi valido, attualmente non presente.
