"Che ogni giorno possa essere come il Chuseok, né più né meno": una festa familiare in Corea del Sud

Concurrently with the XXIII Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, this thesis aims to display part of the South Korean culture and habits through the analysis of Chuseok, the harvest festival that South Korea celebrates since ancient times. This work introduces the anthropological topic of the festival and provides a historical and religious overview about the Korean country; lastly, it examines in depth the meanings, the customs and the latest changes of this holiday. Through the example of Chuseok, the thesis highlights the universality of the festive phenomenon and shows that festive events can be timeless symbols of community identity.

In concomitanza con i XXIII Giochi Olimpici Invernali di Pyeongchang, questa tesi vuole mostrare una parte della cultura e delle abitudini sudcoreane attraverso l'analisi del Chuseok, ovvero la festa del raccolto che si celebra in Corea del Sud fin da tempi antichissimi. L'elaborato offre un'introduzione al tema antropologico della festa ed una panoramica storico-religiosa riguardo la nazione coreana; infine, approfondisce i significati, gli usi originari e i cambiamenti recenti di questa ricorrenza. Tramite l'esempio del Chuseok, la tesi mette in luce la globalità del fenomeno festivo e dimostra la capacità della festa di essere, per una comunità, un simbolo identitario senza tempo.
