The main subject of this thesis is the translation, and the analysis, of the noir french novel La petite écuyère a cafté, by Jean-Bernard Pouy. The aim of this work is to demonstrate the cultural value of the book and to analyse the translation issues which concern the linguistic peculiarities of the text and their solutions in italian, with particular attention on the argot and on the humoristic aspect of language. The first section of the work is theoretical and it concerns the place of the novel in the western, French in particular, literary and cultural context: in this part, a definition of paraliterature and of detective and noir novels is given; furthermore, an exposition of the features of the series «Le Poulpe», of the literary and political ideas of the author and of the themes of the novel is also provided. In the second and original section, an analysis of the translation is given. In the conclusion, the main considerations on the literary value of the text and on the approaches concerning the linguistic issues of the book is outlined and, on the basis of this translation experience, an effort is made to define the nature and the concept of translation, considered as a communicative process between two texts, two lingustic systems and two cultures.

La tesi ha per oggetto la traduzione, con successivo commento e analisi, del romanzo noir La petite écuyère a cafté, di Jean-Bernard Pouy. Il lavoro è volto a dimostrare il valore culturale del testo e ad analizzare le difficoltà traduttive relative alle particolarità linguistiche del testo e le successive soluzioni traduttive, con una particolare attenzione all'argot e alla dimensione umoristica del linguaggio. A una prima parte introduttiva e compilativa riguardante la collocazione del romanzo nel contesto letterario e culturale occidentale e in particolare francese, consistente nella definizione della paraletteratura, dei generi poliziesco e noir e nell'esposizione delle caratteristiche della collana di appartenenza, «Le Poulpe», della visione politica e letteraria dell'autore e delle tematiche e particolarità del romanzo, segue una sezione originale contenente la traduzione il commento del processo traduttivo. Nella conclusione, si espongono le principali considerazioni emerse sullo status letterario del testo, sugli approcci da adottare nel trattamento delle problematiche linguistiche riscontrate e, prendendo le mosse da questa esperienza traduttiva, si indaga la natura e il concetto di traduzione, intesa come un processo comunicativo tra due testi, due sistemi linguistici e due culture.
