The thesis will focus on European Union Anti-discrimination law. The main topic will be the Gender Pay Gap. Particular attention will be paid to recent developments in the protection of the right to non-discrimination on the basis of gender in the workplace at European and national level with special regard to reach the aim of equal pay for equal work between women and men. In the report is defined what the gender pay gap is from the Treaty of Rome in 1957 to the actions of European Union in the last years. The role of women in our society has improved in recent years. The last decades of European history saw considerable growth in statistics on female employment levels. This trend, which does not differ from that of the rest of the world, has been realized as a result of many factors. Cultural change over the role of women is one of these. Legislative innovations in the field of gender equality and equal opportunities have certainly also strengthened the status of women even in the legal sphere. However, there are still forms of inequality between men and women, one of these concerns remuneration for work performance. The aim of the report is to analyse the causes of the gender pay gap, the benefits of closing it and what EU is doing. All work is followed by statistics data from Eurostat. According to my personal experience in a European company in Brussels during my traineeship, I can affirm that European Commission is realizing many actions to close this gap through communication, strategies and equal pay initiatives. During the writing of the thesis my interest is always increased thanks to the close contact with European community.

Abstract
During the writing of the thesis my interest is always increased thanks to the close contact with European community.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
