Quasi strigam, quem dicunt masca: stregoneria contadina nelle Valli di Lanzo

The research is based on the masche figure located in the geographical area of the Valli di Lanzo. The first chapter analyzes the history, the geography of the territory and the figures of the goblins, the wild man and other curious inhabitants of these valleys. The second chapter deals with the masche figure in reference to the book of the command and to the witch hunt. The third chapter of the thesis talks about the relationship between masche and plants with psychoactive properties, referring to the preseance of these plants in the areas indicated as meeting points for the masche. The last chapter talks about the figure of the masca in the re-enactments and festivals present today in the Valli di Lanzo. The work is based on the existing literature on the topic and on a field research composed of interviews.

La ricerca è improntata sulla figura delle masche nell’area geografica delle Valli di Lanzo. Nel primo capitolo vengono analizzate la storia, la geografia del territorio e le figure dei folletti, dell’uomo selvatico e di altri curiosi abitanti di queste vallate. Il secondo capitolo della ricerca ha come argomento la figura della masca con riferimenti al libro del comando e alla caccia alle streghe. Nel terzo capitolo della tesi si parla del rapporto tra masche e piante con proprietà psicoattive, facendo riferimento alla presenza di tali piante nelle aree indicate come punti di ritrovo delle masche. Nell’ultimo capitolo si parla della figura della masca nelle rievocazioni e nelle feste oggi presenti nelle Valli di Lanzo. Il lavoro si basa sulla letteratura esistente sull’argomento e su una ricerca sul campo composta da interviste.
