Emarginazione sociale ed inclusione: il quartiere napoletano di Scampia, spaccato di un fenomeno radicato

The motivation behind choosing this topic derives from personal experiences carried out in these areas. Having touched firsthand the degradation and discomfort that excluded and marginalized people experience on a daily basis is something that shakes one inside and that I had the desire to express. The goal of the paper is to show that despite prejudices combined with deep difficulties, there are people who put their lives on the line for others, to give opportunities to those who have none, and to break down the great wall of social exclusion rooted in the minds of most people. The structure of the thesis includes an initial introductory chapter on the topic of marginalization, dealing with its foundations and the many typologies that characterize it. It then goes on to analyze two of these typologies in more detail: labor and urban-related marginalization. In the second chapter, the focus is on some of the types of help that are offered to those who are marginalized and the reasons from which they derive: in particular, voluntary work and church interventions are discussed. There is also a section on the city of Naples, its structure at the urban level and the presence of associations in the area in favor of the excluded. The third chapter examines the Scampia neighborhood not only in its critical issues but also in its potential and activities in favor of the inclusion of the most vulnerable. This last chapter is based on research and field experience done in the Scampia area.

La motivazione su cui si basa la scelta di questo argomento deriva da esperienze personali svolte in questi territori. L’aver toccato con mano il degrado e il disagio che le persone escluse ed emarginate vivono quotidianamente è qualcosa che smuove dentro e che avevo il desiderio di esternare. L’obiettivo dell’elaborato è quello di dimostrare che, nonostante i pregiudizi uniti alle profonde difficoltà, ci sono persone che mettono in gioco la loro vita per gli altri, per donare delle opportunità a chi non ne ha e per abbattere il grande muro dell’esclusione sociale radicato nelle menti dei più. La struttura della tesi prevede un primo capitolo introduttivo al tema dell’emarginazione, trattando le sue fondamenta e le molteplici tipologie che la caratterizzano. Si passa poi ad analizzare più approfonditamente due di queste tipologie: l’emarginazione lavorativa e quella legata all’assetto urbano. Nel secondo capitolo il focus si concentra su alcuni tipi di aiuto che vengono offerti a chi è emarginato e le motivazioni da cui derivano: in particolare vengono trattati il volontariato e gli interventi della Chiesa. Vi è anche una parte riguardante la città di Napoli, la sua struttura a livello urbanistico e la presenza di associazioni sul territorio a favore degli esclusi. Nel terzo capitolo viene preso in esame il quartiere di Scampia non solo nelle le sue criticità ma anche nelle sue potenzialità e attività a favore dell’inclusione dei più deboli. Quest’ultimo capitolo si basa sulla ricerca e sull’esperienza sul campo fatta sul territorio di Scampia.
