L'emancipazione femminile attraverso la figura di Nilde Iotti

Twenty years of fascist dictatorship and the war had assigned women an anti-historical role of social, political and cultural marginalisation. But those women who for years had been solely responsible for the meagre family budgets, those arbiters of burdensome decisions as head of the family due to the absence of many men called upon by the demands of fascist war, the women wives and mothers of the politically persecuted, those marginalised from the world of work, the exploited workers or even simply those women who found the strength to rebel against years of misery, deprivation and bereavement, during the Second World War, in the struggles of the Resistance, made their debut as active protagonists of a fundamental moment in Italian history. The Resistance was undoubtedly one of the most important stages in the movement towards women's emancipation and this paper aims precisely to cover this period through the figure of Nilde Iotti, a leading figure among those who are remembered as the women of the Resistance and who is undoubtedly considered the champion in the battle for women's emancipation.

Vent’anni di dittatura fascista e la guerra avevano assegnato alla donna un antistorico ruolo fatto di emarginazione sociale, politica e culturale. Ma quelle donne che per anni erano state le uniche responsabili dei magri bilanci familiari, quelle arbitre di gravose decisioni da capofamiglia per l’assenza di molti uomini richiamati dalle esigenze del bellicismo fascista, le donne mogli e madri dei perseguitati politici, quelle emarginate dal mondo del lavoro, le operaie sfruttate o anche semplicemente quelle donne che trovavano la forza di ribellarsi ad anni di miserie, privazioni e lutti, nel corso della Seconda guerra mondiale, nelle lotte della Resistenza, fecero il loro esordio come protagoniste attive di un momento fondamentale della storia italiana. La Resistenza fu sicuramente una delle tappe più importanti del movimento verso l'emancipazione femminile ed il presente elaborato ha proprio lo scopo di percorrere questo periodo attraverso la figura di Nilde Iotti, figura di spicco tra quelle che vengono ricordate come le donne della Resistenza e che nella battaglia per l’emancipazione femminile è senz’altro considerata la paladina.
