Un recommender system per le scelte alimentari nel food delivery: sviluppo della piattaforma “Voglia di”

This research is part of the macro-theme related to the ability of digital platforms to understand the user experience and to model themselves on the needs and desires of the individual to support purchasing choices and alimentary consumption in food delivery. The experimentation analyses the use of recommender systems to present and recommend the most interesting elements through the implementation of a digital platform for food delivery: Voglia di. The idea is born from a group project carried out within the university studies and has as its objective the prediction of the user’s choices, based on the assumption that he is aware of his current tastes and preferences but not how they could link to a specific dish or restaurant. The objective is to analyse the process carried out by the user in the selection phase and to build the system in such a way that it anticipates his reasoning. In addition to providing the preferred restaurants, particular attention is given to the arrangement of items considered relevant for the user. In the dissertation the state of the art gets presented, followed by an in-depth discussion on recommender systems focused on session-based and utility-based systems. Lastly, the database design and the implementation of the platform as a Progressive Web App will be shown.

La ricerca si inserisce all’interno del macro-tema relativo alla capacità delle piattaforme digitali di comprendere l’esperienza di utilizzo e modellarsi sulle esigenze e i desideri dell’individuo per supportare le scelte di acquisto e di consumo alimentare nel food delivery. La sperimentazione analizza l’utilizzo dei recommender system per presentare e raccomandare gli elementi più interessanti attraverso l’implementazione di una piattaforma digitale di consegna di cibo a domicilio: Voglia di. L’idea nasce da un progetto di gruppo realizzato all’interno del percorso universitario e ha come obiettivo la previsione delle scelte dell’utente, basandosi sull’ipotesi che abbia consapevolezza dei propri gusti e preferenze attuali ma non di come possano esplicarsi in un preciso piatto o ristorante. Si vuole infatti analizzare il processo compiuto dall’utente nella fase di scelta e realizzare il sistema in modo che anticipi i suoi ragionamenti. Oltre a prevedere i ristoranti graditi, particolare attenzione viene posta sulla disposizione degli elementi ritenuti rilevanti per l’utente. All’interno dell’elaborato è presentato lo stato dell’arte, seguito da un approfondimento sui recommender system focalizzato sui sistemi session-based e utility-based. Vengono infine mostrate la progettazione della base di dati e l’implementazione della piattaforma come Progressive Web App.
