"Al margine della legalità":il ruolo dell'immigrazione e delle imprese tessili cinesi a Prato

The Chinese community of Prato is the most important in Italy in terms of settlement and history. The paper aims to explain the first Chinese migratory dynamics in the city of Prato from the late 1980s to the present day. The aim is to deepen the role and situation of the Chinese communities in Prato in fact, for this reason the textile and packaging sectors have been analyzed. Through the testimonies of social actors active in organizations such as “Confindustria”, “Camera di Commercio” and “CNA”, it has not only been possible to understand the differences between the past and the present, but also the great social, cultural, working and economic impact that has influenced the Prato area. The aim is to understand through an ethnographic perspective, the dynamics of migration and settlement, the role and the impact of Chinese companies in Prato. The choice of topic is the result of my personal interest, because I have always been focused on the study of the Chinese communities in Prato, people often study them with an approach full of "prejudices" and "stereotypes" then, I wanted to pay homage to my region and for this reason I chose to deal with the well-known Chinese community in Italy. I wanted to address this topic from a different perspective, that is through an anthropological view because I find it interesting to compare groups of human beings to understand their behavior.

In questa tesi, attraverso una ricerca sul campo, è stato affrontato il tema dell’immigrazione e del settore tessile cinese nella città di Prato. La comunità cinese di Prato è la più importante sul territorio italiano a livello insediativo e storico. L’elaborato mira a spiegare le prime dinamiche migratorie cinesi nella città di Prato da fine anni Ottanta fino ai giorni nostri. Lo scopo è quello di approfondire il ruolo e la situazione delle comunità cinesi a Prato infatti, per questo motivo è stato analizzato il settore tessile e quello degli imballaggi. Attraverso le testimonianze di attori sociali attivi in enti come Confindustria, Camera di Commercio e CNA non solo è stato possibile comprendere le differenze tra passato e presente, ma anche il grande impatto sociale, culturale, lavorativo ed economico che ha influenzato il territorio pratese. L’obbiettivo è quello di comprendere attraverso una prospettiva etnografica, le dinamiche migratorie e di insediamento, il ruolo e l’impatto delle imprese cinesi a Prato. La scelta dell’argomento è frutto del mio interesse personale, perché da una parte sono sempre stata incuriosita dallo studio delle comunità cinesi a Prato dato che spesso l’approccio con cui le persone le studiano è pieno di “pregiudizi” e “stereotipi”, dall’altra perché in qualche modo volevo omaggiare la mia regione e per questo ho scelto di trattare la comunità cinese più nota non solo di tutta la Regione Toscana, ma di tutta Italia. Ho voluto affrontare questo argomento attraverso una prospettiva diversa, ovvero attraverso uno sguardo antropologico, perché trovo che sia interessante mettere a confronto gruppi di esseri umani per comprendere, laddove è possibile, il loro comportamento.
