LE DECISIONI DI BOLSONARO NELLA POLITICA ESTERA DEL BRASILE Caratteristiche ideologiche e vincoli della pandemia da Covid-19

Fostered by the media, an anti-political climate is said to have grown throughout Brazil in the past ten years. People perceived politics as more convoluted and distant from their lives and politicians as incapable, impotent, and corrupt at all levels. This perception has affected electoral behavior, and the main alternative has emerged in the shape of a populist who offers straightforward, “common-sense” solutions to society’s complex problems and adopts forceful “man in the street” communication styles, which can galvanize at least some of those who have lost faith in traditional politics and its representatives - Jair Bolsonaro. The present dissertation analyses two clusters of decisions perpetrated in Bolsonaro’s government by him or one of his Ministers, which summarize the central ideological thinking and mode of operation of the current administration, culminating in the mismanagement of the Covid19 pandemic. This disastrous administration put Brazil in the shameful and painful second position in deaths worldwide.
