Eurovision Song Contest: impatto turistico, sociale e sull'identità nazionale

This thesis focuses on the Eurovision Song Contest and the impact it creates on tourism, society and national identity. It is divided into five parts, the first two set out the history and the functioning of the show, while the next sections are about the analysis of the three impacts. The third chapter deals with the tourism effect caused by the event in the host country, which is first addressed in general and then in the specific case of the edition that took place in Turin in 2022. The fourth chapter analyses the reasons why Eurovision is the most-watched non-sporting event in the world and the social issues it raises. Lastly, the fifth chapter focuses on the national identity and the image that is given by each participating country during the show. The aim of the thesis is to illustrate the positive effects of the Eurovision Song Contest.

La tesi tratta dell’Eurovision Song Contest e dell’impatto che crea sul turismo, sulla società e sull’identità nazionale. Essa si articola in cinque parti, le prime due hanno lo scopo di inquadrare la storia e il funzionamento della manifestazione mentre le successive analizzano nel dettaglio le tre tipologie di impatto. Nel terzo capitolo viene affrontato dunque il tema dell’effetto turistico provocato dall’evento nel Paese ospitante, che viene prima preso in esame a livello generale e dopodiché a livello specifico analizzando l’edizione di Torino 2022. Nel quarto capitolo si approfondiscono i motivi per i quali l’Eurovision è l’evento non sportivo più seguito al mondo e le questioni sociali che la manifestazione solleva. Infine, il quinto ed ultimo capitolo si concentra sull’identità nazionale e sull’immagine che viene data da ogni Stato che vi partecipa durante lo spettacolo. L’obiettivo della tesi è quello di illustrare gli effetti positivi dell’Eurovision Song Contest. ​
