Global warming is the greatest challenge facing humanity, however, even if everyone recognizes its seriousness, the solution seems further off. Climate change is difficult to tackle because it questions our increasingly technological lifestyle and our consumerism-based economic system. Many scientists and politicians are trying to understand whether it is possible to find a solution to global warming that is not so drastic for humanity and its habits. The European Union is taking action and imposing them on its Member States that have to satisfy climate targets that seem impossible. Italy has tried to reach the required targets with a very debated tax incentive called Ecobonus or tax deductions for green building retrofit equal to 55-65%, which was transformed into a period of a Super bonus at 110%. This paper tends to be an initial study investigating whether this political strategy can have a significant environmental impact and whether it can also create economic growth that benefits the entire community. The results show an economic impact, but further studies are needed: using scientific methods to evaluate policies is the only possible way.
