Environmental, economic, and social factors are commonly considered to be the three pillars of sustainable development. Accordingly, the Brundtland Report defines sustainable development as "development that meets present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs" (World Commission on Environment and Development 1987). The Sustainable Development Goals, a call to action to conserve the environment and ensure human welfare on a global scale, were adopted by the United Nations as part of a new sustainable development blueprint known as the 2030 Agenda. The largest rainforest on Earth is found in the Amazon region, which also has a considerable impact on the global climate. The deforestation activities in the Amazon Forest have an impact on world sustainability. The area is well known for having amazing terrestrial, aquatic, and biodiversity. The dangers of irreversible change to its tropical forests will result from the loss of biodiversity and ongoing deforestation. The purpose of this research is to investigate the sustainable development required to enhance the Amazon rainforest. This research will look at how various factors like deforestation and other factors are contributing to less sustainable development in the rainforest in which indigenous peoples lived for the past thousand years. The research rigorously analyzes data from international journals and other types of research carried out by scholars. The findings reveal the key issues hindering sustainable development in the Amazon rainforest, particularly in Brazil where 60% of the forest and the other remaining parts share by Ecuador, Venezuela, Suriname, Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, Guyan and French Guiana. The research also gives a clear answer on how to make the forest more sustainable and protect the right of the indigenous people. Keywords: Amazon rainforest, sustainable development, deforestation, indigenous people, biodiversity.
