Pietro Paolo Operti (1704-1793). La produzione artistica del pittore braidese nel Piemonte meridionale

The paper investigates the figure of Pietro Paolo Operti, a painter born in Bra, in the province of Cuneo in 1704 and passed away in 1793. The first part of the thesis focuses on the artist’s biography and in the analysis of majority of the known paintings, screening the documented works, the clients and the geographical extent of its market. In the second part, we examine the painter’s artistic production, to search for both the models and characters that Operti used several times in his canvases as well as tracing the works of other artists to whom the painter was inspired by for his own compositions. Finally, there are the cataloging cards of the most significant works, which is followed by a summary table with all the information collected on the paintings of Operti.

L'elaborato indaga la figura di Pietro Paolo Operti, pittore nato a Bra, in provincia di Cuneo, nel 1704 e morto nel 1793. La prima parte della tesi si concentra sulla biografia dell’artista e nell'analisi della maggior parte delle tele conosciute, vagliando le opere documentate, i committenti e l'estensione geografica del suo mercato. Nella seconda parte, invece, esamina la produzione artistica del pittore, sia per ricercare i modelli ed i personaggi che Operti impiega più volte nelle sue tele, sia per rintracciare le opere di altri artisti a cui il pittore si ispira per le proprie composizioni. Infine, vi sono le schede delle opere più significative, alle quali segue una tabella riassuntiva con tutte le informazioni raccolte sui quadri di Operti.
