The paper will also underline the importance of the ‘80s and its first cautious television experiments such as Creepshow and Tales from the Darkside, and then will move on to Twin Peaks and Twin Peaks: The Return, given the great resonance it had. This analysis could not miss out on the master of the horror genre- Stephen King. Il primo capitolo riflette sull'horror e sul motivo che spinge lo spettatore a godere di questo particolare tipo di visione. Si partirà parlando dei sentimenti che esso suscita, quindi che cosa è la paura e perché provoca piacere; che cos'è il perturbante e perché è uno degli ingredienti principali del genere. Si entrerà poi più nel dettaglio rievocando i primi cult dell'horror, da Shining a It, alla serie popolare di Twin Peaks; come questi precursori di successo abbiano aperto le porte al macabro, dal grande schermo fino al tubo catodico. Si sottolineerà anche l'importanza degli anni ottanta con i suoi primi cauti esperimenti televisivi come Creepshow e Tales from the Darkside, per poi passare a parlare più approfonditamente di Twin Peaks e di Twin Peaks: The Return data la grande risonanza che ebbe. Il maestro dell'horror Stephen King non poteva mancare in un'analisi di questo genere: ci sarà una carrellata delle serie che i suoi romanzi ispireranno soffermandosi in particolare sulla miniserie It. E' una delle serie più di successo e longeva del genere e celebra l’amore per l’horror che, come dicono i creatori stessi, rappresenta uno dei punti di riferimento della cultura popolare americana.
