The thesis focuses above all on the situation of women in Afghanistan, victims of tribal struggles, wars and fundamentalism that have bloodied the country, as well as a patriarchal culture that continues to stifle their autonomy and emancipation. This is a very current issue, which has come to the fore since August 2021, when the return of the Taliban, the situation in the country, and of women, has dramatically worsened. The thesis will demonstrate how the condition of the Afghan women is not only the result of Taliban policies but of a history that has seen them subdued for a long time. In addition there is an interview with an Afghan refugee who, giving voice to his pain, tells how he lived the hope of a possible change and the subsequent disappointment.
