Chi è l'assistente sociale? Rappresentazioni sociali a confronto

The image we have of ourselves and others, how we should be and how we are to the eyes of others, whether these are the "eyes of a social thought" or the institutional ones, can be and is almost always very different. Knowing the different representations of a profession is important to understand who is a professional and what he does, discerning from common sense only. Knowledge allows a decision-making action precisely from the representation you have of the professional. The purpose of my elaboration is to tell, as much as possible, who the social worker is, what and how he does on two different representations: the media representation and the institutional representation. After having explained in a first introductory chapter what is meant by the concept of "social representation" and what functions it performs, will follow an analysis of the object "social worker" in the two readings said. Particularly, in the second chapter the image of the social worker is represented by the institutional topic; in the third instead we use the media tool of a web series that puts him as a protagonist. Finally, there is a conclusion, notes of reflection of comparison of the social worker’s two representations.

L’immagine che noi abbiamo di noi stessi e degli altri, come dovremmo essere e come invece siamo per gli occhi altrui, siano questi gli “occhi di un pensiero sociale” siano quelli istituzionali, può essere ed è quasi sempre molto differente. Conoscere le diverse rappresentazioni di una professione è importante per capire chi è un professionista e cosa faccia, discernendo dal solo senso comune. La conoscenza permette un agire decisionale proprio a partire dalla rappresentazione che si ha del professionista. L’obiettivo della mia elaborazione è quello di raccontare, per quanto possibile, chi è l’assistente sociale, cosa faccia e come riflettendo su due diverse rappresentazioni: quella mediatica e quella istituzionale. Dopo aver spiegato in un primo capitolo introduttivo cosa si intende con il concetto di “rappresentazione sociale” e a quali funzioni essa assolve, seguirà un’ analisi dell’oggetto “assistente sociale” nelle due letture dette. In particolare, nel secondo capitolo l’immagine dell’assistente sociale è rappresentata sul piano istituzionale; nel terzo invece ci si avvale dello strumento mediatico di una serie web che lo pone come protagonista. Segue, infine, una conclusione, note di riflessione di confronto, poste dalle due rappresentazioni della professione.
