Indagine sulle strategie di fronteggiamento degli assistenti sociali rivolte a famiglie con figli autistici durante la pandemia da Covid-19

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a strong impact on the general population, causing negative psychological effects. These have become acute within those families that in their daily life face the challenges of caring for a family member with disabilities and in particular with autism. A qualitative research study was carried out with the aim of identifying the difficulties faced by families and autistic subjects during the emergency period by Covid-19; and identifying the support offered by social services. The first chapter will focus on the definitions of Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome. It will also illustrate the characteristics of both disorders with particular reference to cognitive-behavioral therapies associated with them and the indications on why it was chosen to address the phenomenon of autism in the pandemic period. Subsequently, the importance of the role of the family and social service in relation to people with autism will be highlighted in several paragraphs. Attention will be focused on the different levels of intervention in which the social service operates and, on the other hand, the influence that disability has within the family. The last chapter will focus on the presentation of the research and the results obtained.

La pandemia da Covid-19 ha avuto un forte impatto sulla popolazione generale, tale da provocare effetti psicologici negativi. Quest’ultimi si sono acutizzati all’interno di quei nuclei familiari che nella loro quotidianità affrontano le sfide della cura di un familiare con disabilità e in particolare con autismo. Si è proceduto a realizzare uno studio di ricerca qualitativa con l’obiettivo di identificare le difficoltà affrontate da famiglie e soggetti autistici durante il periodo emergenziale da Covid-19; e identificare il supporto offerto dai servizi sociali. Nel primo capitolo ci si soffermerà sulle definizioni di Autismo e della Sindrome di Asperger. Verranno illustrate, inoltre, le caratteristiche di entrambi i disturbi con particolare riferimento alle terapie cognitivo-comportamentali ad esse associate e le indicazioni sul perché si è scelto di affrontare il fenomeno dell’autismo nel periodo pandemico. Successivamente si esplicherà in diversi paragrafi l’importanza del ruolo della famiglia e del servizio sociale nei confronti delle persone con autismo. Si concentrerà l’attenzione sui diversi livelli d’intervento in cui il servizio sociale opera e dall’altro lato, l’influenza che la disabilità ha all’interno del nucleo familiare. L’ultimo capitolo si concentrerà sulla presentazione della ricerca e dei risultati ottenuti.
