Il teatro come strumento di educazione all'affettività e alla sessualità

The purpose of this thesis is to show how theatre can be used as an instrument of education in affectivity and sexuality. In fact, Italy is now one of the few remaining countries in the European Union that has not included education to affectivity and sexuality compulsorily in schools that, as we will see in the course of the treatment, has been shown to have a strong impact on reducing gender-based violence and harmful sexual behaviour. To demonstrate this I will report the results obtained from a series of studies in which the theater was used as a method of information, education and prevention for behaviors related to sexuality and affectivity. Later, I will present a series of shows elaborated and produced in the Italian context. The first of these is 'Fa' afafine' by Giuliano Scarpinato, an important show to be mentioned as it has created a lot of scandal and controversy among Italian public opinion. It presents the story of a* bambin* that is found neither in the male nor in the female gender. The others are performances conceived by theatrical groups from Turin, presented with the collaboration of the Social and Community Theater Center and addressed to training and education. The first of these is 'onstage', an interactive theater show aimed at understanding the LGBT community for people who are not part of it and 'degenerate', the result of a workshop focused on stereotypes and gender violence. So the Professional Educators, in the absence of an institutionalized place where they can do sexual and affective education, could use the theater to fill this gap.

Lo scopo di questa tesi è mostrare come il teatro possa essere utilizzato come strumento di educazione all’affettività e alla sessualità. L’Italia infatti è ormai uno dei pochi paesi rimanenti nell’Unione Europea a non aver inserito l’educazione all’affettività e alla sessualità obbligatoriamente nelle scuole che, come vedremo nel corso della trattazione, è dimostrata avere un forte impatto sulla riduzione della violenza di genere e di comportamenti sessuali nocivi. Per dimostrare questo riporterò i risultati ottenuti da una serie di studi in cui il teatro è stato utilizzato come metodo di informazione, educazione e prevenzione per comportamenti legati all’ambito della sessualità e dell’affettività. In seguito, presenterò una serie di spettacoli elaborati e prodotti nel contesto italiano. Il primo di questi è ‘’Fa’ afafine’’ di Giuliano Scarpinato, uno spettacolo importante da citare in quanto ha creato molto scandalo e polemiche tra l’opinione pubblica italiana. Esso presenta la storia di un* bambin* che non si ritrova né nel genere maschile né in quello femminile. Gli altri sono spettacoli ideati da gruppi teatrali torinesi, presentati con la collaborazione del Social and Community Theater Center e indirizzati alla formazione ed educazione. Il primo di questi è ‘’OnStage’’, uno spettacolo teatrale interattivo finalizzato alla comprensione della comunità LGBT per persone che non ne fanno parte e ‘’DeGenere’’ ovvero il risultato di un laboratorio focalizzato sugli stereotipi e sulla violenza di genere. Dunque gli Educatori Professionali, in mancanza di un luogo istituzionalizzato dove poter fare educazione sessuale e affettiva, potrebbero utilizzare il teatro per colmare questo vuoto.
