The ability to make inferences about others' mental states to predict and explain behaviours has been termed ¿theory of mind¿ (ToM). Many researches founded an impaired ToM in patients with anorexia nervosa. The aim of the current study was to explore whether deficits in their ability to mentalize could be found in AN subjects. Both experimental group, formed by AN patients, and health control group were tried using different measures. The test relevant for the investigation's purpose, was the ¿Reading the Mind in the Eyes¿ (Baron-Cohen et al., 2001). It's an experimental paradigm based on unconscious processing levels and for this reason doesn't present the self-report techniques' usual problems. The obtained results don't show significant differences between the two groups. This finding support the idea that AN suffers haven't an impaired theory of mind.

Abstract
This finding support the idea that AN suffers haven't an impaired theory of mind.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
