La disgregazione della famiglia tedesca dopo la seconda guerra mondiale

After having provided a short description of the political and social situation of Germany at the end of the Second World War, it is meant to describe and analyze the phenomenon of the German family break-up. This break-up will last during the entire after-war period. In order to do this analysis, 3 books will be took as starting point: Helga Schneider's ¿Il rogo di Berlino¿, Heinrich Böll's ¿Haus ohne Hüter¿ and Günter Grass' ¿Die Blechtrommel¿. First of all, it is meant to define the figure of the father in the German after-war society; in addition, it is analyzed how the behavior of a father disturbed after the return of the war, or his absence, have influences on the entire family life, especially that of children. Second, it is described the role that mothers play in their own families and the disadvantages that these mothers have to face due to the economic crisis caused by the war, the absence of their husbands and the responsibility of the growth of their children. Finally, it is described how German children have to tackle the lack of family happiness and how they react to survive in the after-war German society. The purpose is to demonstrate that after the war the traditional German family publicized during the 30s by the Nazi propaganda, it is completely destroyed. In addition, the lack of a stable family creates a new German generation, completely different in behavior and values from the previous one.

Dopo aver fornito una breve descrizione della situazione politica e sociale della Germania alla fine della Seconda Guerra Mondiale, si intende descrivere e analizzare il fenomeno della disgregazione dell'unità familiare tedesca, disgregazione che si protrarrà per tutto il periodo postbellico. Per compiere quest'analisi vengono presi a spunto 3 libri: ¿Il rogo di Berlino¿ di Helga Schneider, ¿Haus ohne Hüter¿ di Heinrich Böll e ¿Die Blechtrommel¿ di Günter Grass. In primo luogo ci si prefigge di definire la figura del padre nella società tedesca del dopoguerra e ci si sofferma su come il comportamento di un padre traumatizzato dalla guerra, o la sua assenza, influisca sulla vita di tutta la famiglia, specialmente dei figli. In secondo luogo ci si concentra sul ruolo che le madri giocano all' interno dell'unità familiare e dei disagi che devono affrontare a causa della crisi economica provocata dalla guerra, dall' assenza dei mariti e dal compito di dover allevare i propri figli. Infine si descrive come i bambini tedeschi debbano affrontare la mancanza della serenità domestica e di come reagiscano per sopravvivere nella società postbellica in cui si trovano a vivere. Lo scopo è quello di dimostrare che la famiglia tedesca tradizionale, così come raccontata dalla propaganda nazista degli anni '30, esce dalla guerra completamente devastata, e che la mancanza di un nucleo familiare solido crea una nuova generazione di tedeschi, completamente diversa nel carattere e nei valori rispetto alla generazione precedente.
