Il sistema del riuso e l'economia circolare: modalità e significati delle loro applicazioni

The thesis aims to investigate the second-hand market using a semiotic approach that accentuates its particularities. Through an excursus from its origin to today, the case study will analyze the characteristics of the circular economy that underlies it, up to the concrete application of this practice through the analysis of important foundations and brands. The starting concept is Roland Barthes' study on fashion as a tool and system of meaning compared with the Saussurean theory from which it develops. One of the focuses of the report will be the comparison, in a semiotic key, between two ascending and antithetical trends that have developed over the last twenty years, fast fashion and slow fashion. Finally, the summit of the analysis will be the visual semiotic processes underlying the advertising communication of this portion of the market.

La tesi ha l’obiettivo di indagare il mercato dell’usato utilizzando un approccio semiotico che ne accentui le particolarità. Attraverso un excursus dalla sua origine ad oggi, il caso studio analizzerà le caratteristiche dell’economia circolare che ne è alla base, fino ad arrivare all’applicazione concreta di questa pratica tramite l’analisi di fondazioni e brand di rilievo. Il concetto di partenza vuole essere lo studio di Roland Barthes sulla moda come strumento e sistema di significazione posto a confronto con la teoria saussuriana da cui si sviluppa. Uno dei focus della relazione sarà il confronto, in chiave semiotica, tra due trend ascendenti e antitetici sviluppatisi nell’ultimo ventennio, fast fashion e slow fashion. Vertice dell’analisi, infine, saranno i processi di semiotica visiva alla base della comunicazione pubblicitaria di questa porzione di mercato.
