Competenze e azioni dell'Unione Europea in ambito di immigrazione

This thesis analyzes European Union's competencies and actions about migration. The first chapter concerns the concept of immigration and the different theories aiming at explainign the reasons behind the movements of people from a country to another. The second chapter focuses on the study of the development of European Union's competencies and actions in the context of immigration (from the Maastricht Treaty to the Lisbon Treaty). The third and the last chapter is more specific, namely it conducts a more thorough examination of the changes regarding the Schengen area and the European family reunification law of the third country citizens; moreover, in this chapter the situation of the UK about these two issues has been analysed. The last paragraph of the third chapter, finally, is devoted to the possible consequences of Brexit: what would happen if UK leave the EU?

Questa tesi analizza le competenze dell'UE e le sue azioni nell'ambito dell'immigrazione. Il primo capitolo si basa sullo studio del concetto di immigrazione e delle differenti teorie che cercano di spiegare le ragioni che si celano dietro allo spostamento delle persone da un Paese all'altro. Il secondo capitolo riguarda lo sviluppo e l'evoluzione delle competenze e delle azioni dell'UE inerenti all'immigrazione (dal trattato di Maastricht al trattato di Lisbona). Il terzo ed ultimo capitolo è più specifico: esso esamina dettagliatamente i cambiamenti concernenti lo spazio Schengen ed il ricongiungimento familiare dei cittadini di Paesi terzi; per di più, in questo capitolo viene analizzata anche la situazione del Regno Unito per quanto riguarda gli argomenti appena menzionati. Nell'ultimo paragrafo del terzo capitolo, infine, viene fatto un accenno alla Brexit: quali potrebbero essere le conseguenze se il Regno Unito uscisse dall'UE?
