IL NICHEL NELLE ACQUE NATURALI DELLA VALLE ORBA

The developed study was born from the necessity to define the entity and the causes of the presence of nickel in the basin of the Orba stream situated in the province of Alexandria and Genoa, among Piedmont and Liguria in the Ligurian Alps . They are consulted data of analysis and studies effected by ARPAPiemonte and from the university of Genoa and therefore proceeds to the sampling of underground waters in correspondence of wells, of superficial waters in correspondence of the courses of water and also to the sampling of rocks. Have been effected the chemical analyses of the principals constituent of the waters and the analyses for determining the nickel with the ICP device. To chemically analyze the rocks instead we used the SEM device. The gotten results underline a good correlation among contained of nickel of the underground waters and ultramafic rocks containing nickel of the basin from which the samples originate but overall analyzed waters introduce only concentrations of superior nickel to the limits of law in a circumscribed sector. You can affirm therefore that the situation of the nickel in the basin, unless in the aforesaid zone, doesn't hinder the use of the waters for the human consumption because in general the water result to be of good quality.

Lo studio svolto è nato dalla necessità di definire l'entità e le cause della presenza di nichel nel bacino del torrente Orba situato in provincia di Alessandria e di Genova, a cavallo tra Piemonte e Liguria sulle Alpi Liguri. Si sono consultati dati di analisi e studi pregressi effettuati dall' ARPA Piemonte e dall'Università degli Studi di Genova e quindi si è proceduto al campionamento di acque sotterranee in corrispondenza di pozzi, di acque superficiali in corrispondenza dei corsi d'acqua e anche al campionamento di rocce. Sono state effettuate le analisi chimiche dei costituenti principali delle acque e le analisi per determinare il nichel all' ICP. Per analizzare chimicamente le rocce si è ricorso invece all'utilizzo del SEM. I risultati ottenuti evidenziano una buona correlazione tra contenuto di nichel delle acque sotterranee e rocce ultrabasiche contenenti nichel del bacino da cui provengono i campioni ma nel complesso le acque analizzate presentano concentrazioni di nichel superiori ai limiti di legge solo in un settore circoscritto. Si può dunque affermare che la situazione del nichel nel bacino, eccetto che nella suddetta zona , non ostacoli l'utilizzo delle acque per il consumo umano dato che le acque nel complesso risultano essere di buona qualità
