This paper contributes to the discussion about the topic of vocational training. The research interests are concentrated on conceptual comparison on the basis of the German and Italian educational system. The focus especially centers on identifying the similarities and differences of the above mentioned systems. The thesis is divided into two parts. Firstly, the education and training in Italy and Germany are presented in the context of following chapters. The first chapter describes the Italian vocational training and educational system in detail and their development in recent years. The second chapter introduces the German system and focuses on its main features. In the second part, the case studies of vocational training projects are presented and analyzed in the framework of the industry of tourism and leisure. The third chapter is devoted to introduction of the project Corso di alta formazione in management dei processi d'innovazione nel settore turistico, which details the vocational training process, dedicated to qualifying professional workers in the Piedmont Region. The fourth chapter,Kaufmann-frau für Tourismus und Freizeit, illustrates the similar process in Bavaria. The goal of the research is to analyze the differences of these two vocational systems by describing the projects in the relevant countries. The keystone is the concept of innovation, whereby the two above mentioned realities are gradually converging to the common European perspective, despite many differences.
