Il fenomeno dello Spanglish negli Stati Uniti: dalle sue origini ai nostri giorni.

This thesis examines Spanglish in the United States, a complex phenomenon that needs to be explained and analyzed carefully. First of all, Spanglish is a linguistic variety that is used in certain contexts to facilitate communication between Hispanics and Anglo-Saxons living together in the united states and in which communication is the ultimate goal. Initially, it presents a general picture of the emigration of Latins to the United States of America, focusing on the history of emigration of Cubans, Mexicans and Puerto Ricans. Then, presenting the American linguistic and social reality, it will be possible to draw the general lines relative to the moment when the linguistic contact between the two languages under study occurred, introducing the central theme of the present work which is Spanglish and the linguistic phenomena that characterize it. Towards the end there will be a brief overview of the Spanglish phenomenon in the media, paying more attention to Cyberspanglish, which characterizes the new way of talking on social media. In conclusion, the phenomenon will be treated under the literary aspect, showing how Spanglish is used in several novels, for this reason, has been analyzed a fragment of the literary work "Don Quixote in Manhattan" by Gerardo Piña-Rosales. After examining all these aspects, despite the differing opinions of the various scientists who investigated the phenomenon, it can be said that Spanglish results in a language in which words and grammatical elements of both Spanish and English are mixed. In reality, it is not just a way of speaking, but a way of surviving in a completely different context from the original, moreover it is the means by which these migrants manage to maintain a sort of connection with their roots and their traditions. over time it has become clear that despite the debates, Spanglish has developed a lot and has become part of contemporary society.

Il presente lavoro esamina lo Spanglish negli Stati Uniti, fenomeno molto complesso che merita di essere spiegato ed analizzato con attenzione. Innanzitutto lo Spanglish è una varietà linguistica che viene utilizzata in determinati contesti per facilitare la comunicazione tra ispanici e anglosassoni che convivono negli Stati Uniti e nei quali la comunicazione è l'obiettivo finale. Inizialmente si presenta un quadro generale dell'emigrazione dei latini negli Stati Uniti d'America, soffermandosi sulla storia dell'emigrazione dei cubani, dei messicani e dei portoricani. Poi, presentando la realtà linguistica e sociale americana, si potranno tracciare le linee generali relative al momento in cui si è verificato il contatto linguistico tra le due lingue oggetto di studio, introducendo il tema principale del presente lavoro, lo Spanglish e i fenomeni linguistici che lo caratterizzano. Verso la fine si farà una breve excursus sul fenomeno dello Spanglish nei media, prestando maggiore attenzione al Cyberspanglish, che caratterizza il nuovo modo di parlare sui social media. In conclusione, verrà trattato il fenomeno sotto l'aspetto letterario, mostrando come lo Spanglish viene utilizzato in diversi romanzi, è per questo che si analizza un frammento dell'opera letteraria "il Don Chisciotte a Manhattan" di Gerardo Piña- Rosales. Dopo aver vagliato tutti questi aspetti, nonostante i pareri discordanti dei vari studiosi che hanno esaminato il fenomeno, si può affermare con determinatezza che lo Spanglish ha come risultato una lingua in cui si mescolano parole ed elementi grammaticali di entrambe le lingue spagnolo e inglese. In realtà, non si tratta solo di un modo di parlare, ma di un modo di sopravvivere in un contesto completamente diverso da quello originario, inoltre è il mezzo grazie al quale questi migranti riescono a mantenere una sorta di connessione con le loro radici e con le loro tradizioni. Nel tempo si è capito che nonostante i dibattiti, lo Spanglish si è sviluppato molto ed è entrato a far parte della società contemporanea.
