GUARIGIONI, GUARITORI E GUARITI NELLE CHIESE PENTECOSTALI DEL MONDO GLOBALIZZATO

According to the Pentecostal Churches, it would be possible to eradicate diseases with prayers, more precisely by acting through the ministry of healing and liberation. Prayer, anointing of oil, laying on of hands: instruments of a wide ritual that acts towards people suffering from various types of physical and mental discomfort. It is often believed that the presence of demons causes these problems, and therefore a liberation is necessary, a practice partly similar to the Catholic rite of exorcism. While some churches do not oppose medical science, others consider such cures useless, placing faith as the only instrument of healing. This study, through the help of interviews, seeks to understand both the reasons and the belief of those who, often suffering from serious diseases, turn to these types of care, and of those who act as healers, working through spiritual care. This analysis will begin by trying to understand how, the current globalized society, has created inequalities and disappointments especially in the field of care, and how many have seen, in religion, a solution to these problems. The development of these new movements has also led to the birth of new social networks, capable of bringing together and involving many people. The history of Pentecostalism and its development in the world will be deepened, especially in the field of care, to frame the current historical context in which a further development of this movement is taking place. To understand this phenomenon, both the theology and the practices of the Pentecostal creed will be deepened, paying particular attention to the theme of the spiritual battle, with which one fights against invisible powers that undermine people's health. We will then try to analyze these movements and their social position, considering how, where Pentecostals continue to define themselves as churches, they are often labeled as sects. The most common pathologies whose healing is requested will then be examined, and the cases in which miraculous results have or have not been obtained. Particular attention will be paid to what is happening in the city of Turin where, both in the pre and post pandemic phase, these movements have proven to be very active in carrying out healing and liberation practices. Conferences and meetings took place both live and online, involving a large number of participants. Various denominations of churches will also be examined, with particular attention to the different ritual approaches used in the field of healings of liberations. In conclusion, we will try to understand how much these new religious movements, with their "alternative cures", have become part of our society, and what prospects are expected for the future.

Secondo le Chiese Pentecostali sarebbe possibile debellare le malattie con le preghiere, più precisamente agendo tramite il ministero della guarigione e della liberazione. Preghiera, unzione dell'olio, imposizione delle mani: strumenti di un'ampia ritualità che agisce nei confronti di persone affette da varie tipologie di disagi fisici e mentali. Spesso si crede che a causare tali problemi sia la presenza di demoni, e quindi si rende necessaria una liberazione, pratica in parte assimilabile al rito cattolico dell'esorcismo. Mentre alcune chiese non si oppongono alla scienza medica, altre ritengono tali cure inutili, ponendo la fede come unico strumento di guarigione. Questo studio, mediante l'ausilio di interviste, cerca di comprendere sia le ragioni che il credo di quanti, sovente affetti da gravi malattie, si rivolgono a queste tipologie di cure, sia di coloro i quali agiscono come guaritori, operando tramite la cura spirituale. Si inzierà questa analisi cercando di comprendere come, l'attuale società globalizzata, abbia creato diseguaglianze e delusioni soprattutto nell'ambito delle cure, e di come in molti abbiano visto, nella religione, una soluzione a questi problemi. Lo sviluppo di questi nuovi movimenti ha inoltre portato alla nascita di nuove reti sociali, capaci di avvicinare e coinvolgere numerose persone. Sarà approfondita la storia del pentecostalesimo e del suo sviluppo nel mondo, soprattutto nell'ambito della cura, sino ad inquadrare l'attuale contesto storico in cui sta avvenendo un ulteriore sviluppo di questo movimento. Per comprendere questo fenomeno saranno approfondite sia la teologia che le pratiche del credo pentecostale, ponendo particolare attenzione al tema della battaglia spirituale, con la quale si combatte contro potenze invisibili che minano la salute delle persone. Si cercherà poi di analizzare questi movimenti e la loro collocazione sociale, considerando come, laddove i pentecostali continuino a definirsi chiese, spesso vengano etichettati come sette. Saranno poi prese in esame le patologie più comuni della quali si chiede la guarigione, ed i casi in cui si sono avuti o meno risultati miracolosi. Particolare attenzione sarà posta a quanto avviene nella città di Torino dove, sia nella fase pre che post pandemica, questi movimenti si sono dimostrati quanto mai attivi nello svolgimento delle pratiche di guarigione e di liberazione. Conferenze e incontri si sono svolti sia dal vivo che online, coinvolgendo un ampio numero di partecipanti. Si esamineranno inoltre varie denominazioni di chiese, con particolare attenzione ai diversi approcci rituali utilizzati nel campo delle guarigioni delle liberazioni. In conclusione si cercherà di comprendere quanto questi nuovi movimenti religiosi, con le loro “cure alternative”, siano entrati a far parte della nostra società, e quali prospettive si prevedono per il futuro.
