The thesis revolves around one main question: do non-human animals have rights? Starting firstly from a historical and sociological study on the relationship between humans and non-humans, which then narrows on three main philosophical branches, the work eventually focuses on a jurisprudential approach, with the analysis of internal and international case-law. The objective is to finally asserts whether animals have rights that go beyond the mere welfare and whether thet are considered subjects of law. ​
