The present study aims to investigate some challenging aspects of teaching English as a foreign language to Italian adults at A1 level and opens, in the first chapter, with a brief historical background about the field of adults’ education from a pedagogical point of view. This research is based on my internship experience at “Fondazione Università Popolare” in Turin: in my position as an English teacher, my responsibilities included developing educational contents as tests, assignments, providing instructions to each student by encouraging a hands-on learning, assigning and grading homework, and other activities related to teaching EFL to non-native English-speaking adults.
