La Crocifissione di Alessandro Trono nella chiesa dell' Annunziata a Racconigi

The paper deals with the study of the historical-artistic events of the church of the Santissima Annunziata, belonging to the Dominican convent of Racconigi, and of the altarpiece of the Crucifixion located on the altar of the same name and created between 1735 and 1740 by Alessandro Trono. The study initially followed the architectural development of the church, starting from the first seventeenth-century construction up to the present day, also highlighting its decorative apparatus. Subsequently, it focused on the figure of the painter, retracing both his life and critical fortune, and his very personal style. Finally he analyzed the Crucifixion altarpiece and the historical information connected to it. The research was divided into various phases, including bibliographic research of volumes relating to the Piedmontese artistic panorama and therefore indirectly to the Trono, and then moving on to archival research to view documents produced by the Dominican convent in the hope of also finding information that would ensure the link between the altarpiece and the tabernacle of the same name. The results obtained were satisfactory, as they allowed us to better outline the profile of the author and therefore to create a brief profile of the work which clearly highlighted some of his stylistic inspirations, however given due to the lack of documents directly relating to the altar, it was not possible to see the real reasons that brought the canva to the building.

L’ elaborato affronta lo studio delle vicende storico-artistiche della chiesa della Santissima Annunziata, appartenente al convento domenicano di Racconigi, e della pala della Crocifissione situata sull’ omonimo altare e realizzata tra il 1735 e il 1740 da Alessandro Trono. L’ indagine ha seguito in un primo momento lo sviluppo architettonico della chiesa a partire dalla prima edificazione seicentesca fino ai giorni nostri, evidenziando anche il suo apparato decorativo. In in un secondo tempo, si è soffermata sulla figura del pittore, ripercorrendo sia la sua vita e fortuna critica, sia il suo stile personalissimo. Infine ha analizzato la pala della Crocifissione e le notizie storiche ad essa collegate. La ricerca si è articolata in varie fasi, tra cui ricerca bibliografica di volumi inerenti al panorama artistico piemontese e perciò indirettamente al Trono, per poi passare alla ricerca archivistica per visionare documenti prodotti dal convento domenicano nella speranza di trovare anche informazioni che assicurassero il legame tra la pala e l'omonimo tabernacolo.I risultati ottenuti sono stati soddisfacenti in quanto hanno permesso di delineare meglio il profilo dell’ autore e quindi di realizzare una breve scheda dell’ opera che mettesse in ben in evidenza alcune delle sue ispirazioni stilistiche, tuttavia data la mancanza di documenti attinenti direttamente all’ altare, non è stato possibile scorgere i reali motivi che hanno portato la tela nell’ edificio.
