The main research questions which this thesis seeks to answer is whether and how Cultural Heritage can be used as a resource for enhancing Human Security and wellbeing, with a particular focus on peacebuilding practices in the case study of Kosovo, Serbia. The first chapters critically explore the theoretical frameworks of the phenomena and the way Cultural Heritage should be managed to raise Human Security and wellbeing, in the context of international institutions operating, policies and cooperation. The second part of the thesis aims at formulating the way Cultural Heritage can be used as a resource for enhancing respect for human rights, economic and social wellbeing in the multicultural and multireligious post-conflict environment of Kosovo, Serbia. Special attention was drawn to the religious heritage sites in Kosovo, as the four of them are in the UNESCO’s World Heritage List, and in the view of religious differences of the ethnical minority and majority groups. The importance of compliance with international institutions policies and values of cooperation is highlighted by the relevance of the potential of Kosovo as regards the EU accession, besides, one of the essential conditions for the process of accession is peace between Kosovo and Serbia. Finally, international cooperation in the field of Cultural Heritage (CH) for enhancing CH visibility globally, for facilitating security and sustainable development, as well as enhancing equality, human rights and democratic development play a significant role in the contemporary context, and is also reflected in the project proposal.
