Il ruolo delle drammaturghe nella nascita della tragicommedia galante di metà Seicento

The French theater saw its birth and rapid rise over a time frame ranging from the early seventeenth century to the eighteenth century. The dynamics underlying this process is a subject that has long fascinated scholars and academics, whose attention has been drawn to masterpieces of extraordinary excellence that arose from the brilliant minds of playwrights such as Molière, Corneille and Racine. Unfortunately, one non-negligible aspect of this phenomenon often tends to remain hidden or, worse yet, completely ignored and forgotten: the role that women played in all of this on all levels of theatrical production at the time. The purpose of my dissertation, therefore, is to highlight the incredible work done by these women in the theatrical industry; who, in their roles as actresses, spectators, patrons and - above all - as authors gave voice to a sex that remained behind the scenes of society for too long.

Il teatro francese vede la sua nascita e la sua rapida ascesa in un periodo di tempo compreso tra gli inizi del Seicento e il Settecento. Le dinamiche che sottostanno a tale processo è un soggetto che da tempo affascina studiosi e accademici, la quale attenzione è stata attirata da capolavori di straordinaria eccellenza nati dalle menti brillanti di drammaturghi come Molière, Corneille e Racine. Purtroppo, un aspetto non trascurabile di tale fenomeno tende spesso a rimanere nascosto o, addirittura, completamente ignorato e dimenticato: il ruolo che le donne hanno avuto in tutto ciò su tutti i livelli della produzione teatrale dell’epoca. Lo scopo della mia dissertazione, dunque, è quello di mettere in luce l’incredibile lavoro operato da queste donne nel settore teatrale; le quali, nel ruolo di attrici, spettatrici, mecenate e – soprattutto – di autrici hanno dato voce ad un sesso rimasto per troppo tempo dietro le quinte della società.
