Gestire la crisi: in che modo il Fondo Monetario Internazionale sta affrontando il Covid-19 in America Latina e nei Caraibi

This work will assess the impact of the ongoing Covid-19 emergency in Latin America and the Caribbean. More specifically, I will analyse the social and economic framework in the region, comparing the situation before Covid-19 with the current circumstances to provide a picture of the multidimensional effect of Coronavirus. I will describe the lending mechanism and facilities of the International Monetary Fund which is a key institution in the environment of International Cooperation. The findings of this proposal may enable a better valuation of the efficiency of such policies and, moreover, of how they tailor to Latin American countries. Then, it will be provided a comparison between the management of the Global Financial Crisis of 2008, the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the ongoing health emergency by the Fund. One of the main goals of this research is to understand how the international aid mechanism works, in order to estimate the policy impact on the economic and social environment within recipient countries of international financial institutions.
