Straniero e ospitalità: l'ambiguità dell'accoglienza

Who is the foreigner? Why does he become an enemy? Why does political discourse use a particular rhetoric of identity to increase the perception that the foreigner is an enemy? What is hospitality and what is the relationship between host and guest? A series of questions lay the foundations for the hypothesis underlying this work: the foreigner, who is, at least initially, the host, is perceived as an enemy because he threatens the host's sense of identity. With the intention of moving within a path between the visible and the invisible, understood as something complementary and not opposed, the investigation focuses on the analysis of the concepts of foreigner and hospitality, aiming to underline the ambiguity of welcome. The compass to orientate oneself along this path has as its cardinal points law, philosophy, linguistics and finally literature. The hypothesis presented here is not refuted, as this is an eminently reflective work, which moves calmly between facts and theory, but only proposes to the reader to question the representation of reality provided by the mass media and certain politicians. This work, therefore, is an invitation to let the restlessness caused by the suspicion that immediately underneath what the eye sees there is, as a driving mechanism, something bigger, even if not visible, and that belongs primarily to the idea we have of ourselves.

Chi è lo straniero? Perché diventa nemico? Perché il discorso politico utilizza una particolare retorica identitaria funzionale ad aumentare la percezione che lo straniero sia un nemico? Cos’è l’ospitalità e che relazione intercorre tra ospitato ed ospitante? Una serie di interrogativi pone le basi per l’ipotesi posta a fondamento di questo lavoro: lo straniero, che poi è, almeno in un primo momento, l’ospite, viene percepito come nemico poiché minaccia il senso d’identità dell’ospitante. Con l’intento di muoversi all’interno di un percorso tra il visibile e l’invisibile, intesi come qualcosa di complementare e non di contrapposto, l’indagine verte sull’analisi dei concetti di straniero ed ospitalità, mirando a sottolineare l’ambiguità dell’accoglienza. La bussola per orientarsi in questo percorso ha come punti cardinali il diritto, la filosofia, la linguistica ed infine la letteratura. L’ipotesi presentata non è confutata, essendo questo un lavoro eminentemente riflessivo, che muovendosi pacatamente tra fatti e teoria, solo propone al lettore di dubitare circa la rappresentazione della realtà fornita da mass media e certuni politici. Questo lavoro, dunque, è un invito a lasciar entrare, dentro sé, l’inquietudine data dal sospetto che immediatamente sotto ciò che l’occhio scorge ci sia, come meccanismo propulsore, qualcosa di più grande, anche se non visibile, e che appartiene primariamente all’idea che abbiamo di noi stessi.
