BACKGROUND: The the system of protection for asylum seekers and refugees (S.P.R.A.R.) has been established in accordance to the article 32 l. n. 189/2002, following a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2001 by the Home Office, ANCI and the UNHCR. The goals of the project S.P.R.A.R. are to support asylum seekers with structured interventions that aim to the integration and the inclusion of the individual in the new context of life. AIMS: The present research work has the objective to analyze the actions carried out within the project S.P.R.A.R. from 2011 to 2013, in order to understand the differences and to consider their effectiveness and any possible criticality. METHODS: A research has been carried out through an interview to the operators of the services involved in the project in the years 2011-2013. The data collected have been analyzed with the statistical program SPSS. In the database have been included the following variables for two hundred an one cases: date of birth; sex; nationality; dates of start and end of the project; project type (ordinary/vulnerable); service; housing situation; autonomy; work grant; educational interventions; interventions of socialization; school integration; psychological support; first interview; diagnosis; compliance; hospitalizations; marital status at the end of the project (refugee/irregular). CONCLUSIONS: The data obtained show that the interventions provided by the service S.P.R.A.R., differ depending on the structure which the take on responsibility of the asylum seeker has been entrusted to. This is determined randomly following the order of arrival in Italy. It requires the presence of a professional and responsible figure for the formulation and monitoring of specific interventions in order to ensure a personalized take on responsibility, in relation to the subjective experience of the individual and to his culture, in order to achieve the aims of the project S.P.R.A.R.
