Italo Calvino(1923-1985), one of the greatest European writers of the 20th century. His novels were both modernist and postmodern, both experiment and tradition, forthwith conceptual and mythic. Gore Vidal , in The New York Review of Books, wrote that "Europe regarded Calvino's death as a calamity for culture." Italo Calvino, with his frequent references to comics and folktales, and contemporary scientific and philosophical theories, he made a great achievement in writing and edit field in nearly forty years. Italo Calvino's "Fiabe Italiane"--"Italian Folktales" --was published in Italy 59 years ago. It is a great contribution to the traditional culture,and gave him a great creative inspiration. This paper studied from the perspective of folk literature, find a bridge linked from East to West and explore the affect of East folk literature to the ¿Italian Folktales¿. This paper is divided into three parts. Firstly, I tracked about the conditions of academic researches, analysis and translations of Calvino's work in the past half-century in China.Then I introduced the uniqueness of Calvino, the collecting process of Italian Folktales, focus on the folk literature, and this paper's academic significance. In the last, I listed the oriental elements about the Italian Folktale to explore the eastern influences from the point of view of folk literature. For example, with the clues of the country, the background and characters, to analysis of these stories' plots, the origins, the changes in Italy, aimes to summarize the eastern relations to them. The character of folktale run through Calvino's whole writing life. Calvino's fictions have always been ambiguity and complexity, with his endless creativity, tried to reflect the various angles of the world. Calvino's explorations in nature, art and his intellectual life, made a great contribution to the development of the East-West folk literature and cultura exchange. It will be shown that the eastern and western culture are a unique form influencing and integrating each other.
