Neri Oxman: immaginari futuri, nuova abitabilità del mondo

The work of the architect and designer Neri Oxman of the boundaries and abstractions of contemporary eco-design. The first part of this thesis explores the method and guidelines on which Oxman and his group, the Mediated Matter Research Lab at MIT, base their design philosophy, within a sort of post-romantic utopia of acting according to nature. The second part of the thesis focuses on the theme of the Anthropocene and how Neri Oxman's team responds to this emergency to produce decomposable and sustainable materials. The last chapter explores the inevitability of human extinction and how Neri Oxman is able to reflect on the role of design in contemporary societies through his projects.

Il lavoro dell'architetta e designer Neri Oxman delle frontiere e delle astrazioni dell'eco-design contemporaneo. Nella prima parte di questa tesi si esplorano il metodo e gli orientamenti su cui Oxman e il suo gruppo, il Mediated Matter Research Lab del MIT, basano la propria filosofia di progettazione, all'interno di una sorta di utopia post romantica dell'agire secondo natura. La seconda parte della tesi si concentra sul tema dell'Antropocene e di come il team di Neri Oxman risponde a questa emergenza per produrre materiali decompostabili e sostenibili. L'ultimo capitolo approfondisce il tema dell'inevitabilità dell'estinzione umana e di come, attraverso i suoi progetti, Neri Oxman è capace di riflettere sul ruolo del design nelle società contemporanee.
