AVVERSIONE AL RISCHIO E LA BIAS DI GENERE : QUESTIONARIO E ANALISI EMPIRICA

Gender peculiarities have been studied for a long time. Some of the differences can be accounted for by biological reasons (as for pregnancy and everything that regards the reproductive system) but many others aren't. Still, due to cultural stereotypes and measurable behavioral differences, men and women conduct very distinctive lives, both in the job and financial markets. One of this differences is the risk aversion. The scope of our research was to identify the factors influencing this gap through a questionnaire given to 377 students at the University of Turin and the Università del Piemonte Orientale in Alessandria. The questionnaire consists of theoretical questions and questions mimicking real life situations. The result of the students' choices is a score that, in its distribution, identifies a difference in men and women. This asymmetry is mostly prominent when talking about financial or job related issues.
