This work aims at analyzing the role of the Fair Value Liabilities within the context of the Solvency II framework, with a focus on the main aspects challenging the insurance industry at the time being, especially in the Life-business. My interest in this particular subject rose from my work experience during the last year, which allowed me to understand the importance of the continuous development of rules on the basis of the new solvency regime. This aspect, together with the growing market's needs, represents the main core of this work which includes the current legislative requirements necessary to define all the actuarial and methodological aspects concerning the Life Fair Value Liabilities.
