This thesis is the result of the collaboration with Indo Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IICCI) and it is an analysis of Indo-Italian Relations (IIR) that are Italian companies having current investments in India, in the form of wholly owned subsidiaries, joint ventures or branch and representative offices. After introducing the main economic, political and social features of the country and analyzing the Indian business environment from a wider point of view, the goal of the project is to click a picture of the current IIR situation, in order to understand what can be done to improve business relations with India. With the help of Professor Bonavero, I've decided to carry on the analysis of IIR on two main fronts: on one hand there is the analysis of Italian parent companies considering sector, dimension, geographic position and choice of investment; on the other hand there is the analysis on Indian companies (IIR) considering sector, kind of business, geographic position. In fact, I believe that IIR can't be considered only looking at their presence in India: as they have a link with Italy, in many cases the bound influences a lot the behaviour of IIR and this has to be contemplated in the picture. After this general analysis I've opted for a focus on IIR operating in food and beverage sector and machinery related to it, which concentrate in the area of Mumbai (which included Mumbai, Nave Mumbai, Thane and Pune). I find this sector very interesting because of its dynamism, both in Italy and abroad and because it's very much related to the "made in Italy" label which I believe to be one of the most important competitive advantages of my country. The method of analysis for this part is direct interviews to IIR companies (Cevico Group, Ferrero, Fratelli Wines and PizzaMetroPizza Restaurant), in order to investigate on their experience in India and to see the reasons why Mumbai's area is such appealing to them.

Abstract
This thesis is the result of the collaboration with Indo Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IICCI) and it is an analysis of Indo-Italian Relations (IIR) that are Italian companies having current investments in India, in the form of wholly owned subsidiaries, joint ventures or branch and representative offices. After introducing the main economic, political and social features of the country and analyzing the Indian business environment from a wider point of view, the goal of the project is to click a picture of the current IIR situation, in order to understand what can be done to improve business relations with India.
