Rilevazione DAV: tradizionale vs applicazioni

The Visual Axis Distance (VAD) is the distance between the corneal reflexes of the two eyes that are formed when light radiation strikes them. The aim of this study is to compare the results obtained by measuring the DAV with different methods, traditionally using the digital interpupillometer (gold standard) and with the use of two smartphone applications with different characteristics, Eye Measure and Glasses On, and to compare the reliability of the latter. A random sample of 70 individuals, aged between 18 and 81, were subjected to DAV measurement on the same day, first with the digital interpupillometer, then with the two different smartphone applications. The analyzed data showed statistically significant differences between the different types of measurement. 100 measurements were also performed on the same individual with the same methods as the main data collection to investigate the reliability of the applications.

La Distanza Assi Visivi (DAV) è la distanza tra i riflessi corneali dei due occhi che si vengono a formare quando su di essi incide la radiazione luminosa. Lo scopo di questo studio è quello di mettere a confronto i risultati ottenuti dalla misurazione della DAV con metodi differenti, tradizionale attraverso l’interpupillometro digitale (gold standard) e con l'uso di due applicazioni per smartphone con caratteristiche diverse, Eye Measure e Glasses On, e di quest’ultime confrontare l’attendibilità. Un campione casuale di 70 individui, di età compresa fra 18 e 81 anni, sono stati sottoposti alla misurazione della DAV nello stesso giorno prima con l’interpupillometro digitale, poi con le due diverse applicazioni per smartphone. I dati analizzati hanno riportato differenze statisticamente significative fra le diverse tipologie di misurazione. Sono state effettuate anche 100 misurazioni sullo stesso individuo con le stesse modalità della presa dati principale per indagare l’affidabilità delle applicazioni.
